Kilvey Hill is the big green hill on the east side of Swansea, with views over the city and Swansea Bay. This free guide covers how to get there, where to walk and ride, what is open while Skyline Swansea is being built, and what is coming next.
Right now (checked 22 October 2026): Kilvey Hill is open to walkers, but building work for Skyline Swansea means some paths are fenced off or diverted. You can still cross the hill between Bonymaen and St Thomas on a signed route. See what's open now.

Latest updates
Road closure in Landore on Sunday 1 November 2026
Part of the A4217 will close between 8am and 5pm on Sunday 1 November 2026 while Skyline works continue. The southbound lane between Brunel Way and White Rock Roundabout will be shut, with a signed diversion through Landore and Hafod on the west side of the river. Pentre-Chwyth Road (B5444) stays open but has temporary traffic lights near the A4217 junction. Expect busier traffic on Foxhole Road and Kilvey Road that day.
Remains of a small stone building found near the summit
While stripping topsoil in August, the builders found the remains of a small building on top of the hill. Skyline says it has been cleaned, recorded and fenced off with help from Archaeology Wales, and that it is talking about how the site's story can be kept for the future.
Skyline published a new access map showing which Kilvey Hill paths are open, which are closed for now and where diversions run. You can still cross the hill between Bonymaen and St Thomas using a signed temporary route.
Kilvey Hill Guide is written by a local who lives next to the hill. It is not the official Skyline website. Every fact links to where it came from, and anything we could not confirm is marked to be confirmed. More about us.
