Kilvey Hill and Skyline Swansea: FAQ
Short answers to the questions people ask most. Each answer says where it came from.
Is Kilvey Hill open to the public right now?
Yes. Skyline says public access is being kept throughout construction. Some paths near work areas are fenced off or diverted, with signs on site. You can still cross between Bonymaen and St Thomas (Skyline access update, 11 August 2026).
When will Skyline Swansea open?
Skyline says 2028. Its timeline page says mid-2028 and its FAQ says it is aiming for late 2028. No exact date has been announced yet (Skyline website, checked 22 October 2026).
How much will tickets cost?
To be confirmed. Skyline has not published prices. Walkers and cyclists will still be able to use the hill for free, and the BBC describes the children's adventure playground as free to use.
Where will the gondola start?
At a base station at Landore Park & Ride, next to the Hafod-Morfa Copperworks in the Copper Quarter. The ride is about 1 mile to the top of Kilvey Hill (Skyline website).
What will there be at the top?
Three luge (downhill kart) tracks at opening, a sky swing, new and improved walking and mountain bike trails, a children's playground and a 150-seat restaurant. Skyline says a zipline will be added after opening (Skyline website and FAQ).
Can I still use Landore Park & Ride?
Yes, but there are fewer parking spaces during the works, and the bus stop has moved to Loverose Way. Buses run Monday to Saturday only (Skyline FAQ, Swansea Council).
Will the gondola be accessible?
Skyline says the gondola will suit wheelchair users and pushchairs (Skyline FAQ).
Can I mountain bike on Kilvey Hill?
The hill has existing trails, and Skyline says they will be kept and improved, with about 1.25 miles of new trails planned. Which trails are open during construction is to be confirmed, so check Skyline's access map and follow signs on site.
Are there any road closures?
Yes. On Sunday 1 November 2026, from 8am to 5pm, the southbound A4217 between Brunel Way and White Rock Roundabout will be closed, with a signed diversion (Skyline, WalesOnline).
Is Skyline hiring?
Not yet. Skyline says recruitment is expected to start in early 2028, and you can register your interest on its website.
Is this the official Skyline Swansea website?
No. This is an independent local guide, not affiliated with Skyline Enterprises or Swansea Council. The official site is skylineswansea.co.uk.
